Department of Homeland Security

Welcome

Constable’s Office, First Justice Court, Jefferson Parish, Louisiana

Our office is located in Suite 2100 of the Jefferson Parish General Government Building at 200 Derbigny Street in downtown Gretna. First Justice Court’s territorial jurisdiction encompasses all of ZIP codes 70053 & 70056 and that portion of 70058 east of the Harvey Canal.

Constable Liberto and his deputies can serve papers and make civil law arrests anywhere within First Justice Court’s territory. They can make arrests for misdemeanors anywhere within Jefferson Parish and for felonies anywhere within Louisiana.

Our office is responsible for enforcing the judgments of First Justice Court, which include tenant evictions and small claims matters. Having your matter resolved in First Justice Court will result in lower costs, less time, and a simpler process than the trial court system.

Our office is extremely proactive by regularly assisting fellow agencies on calls for service, such as the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office, the Gretna Police Department, the Crescent City Connection Police, the Louisiana State Police, and local EMS units and fire departments.

Our deputies have recovered numerous stolen cars and have made arrests in holdups, shootings, and bank robberies. They have also assisted with major accident scenes and arrested intoxicated drivers.

Please explore our website to learn more about us. We look forward to assisting you.
